By 1994 he had picked up weight and slowed down as far as movement was concerned but still had fire in his playing! I was listening to him when he was in Taste. I special ordered his records from a little shop in Keene NH when I was in college in 72. Still love him. A few years ago it was hard to find much of him on YouTube. I am glad to see so much Rory on there now! youtu.be/y8BNU8by4vM

Davy - I've watched the video I shot of you at PRS playing As The Crow Flies a hundred times and cant figure it out. I could have swore you said it was in standard tuning that day. But it would be great try to learn that song. I'd also like to see a few tips on what you are doing lead wise. Some of your phrasing is amazing. So maybe a video of some lead work would be nice too.

Hi Twinfan - yep thats exactly what I am trying to attain. More trebel and bite. Seems to have a flat heavy tone to me. I am running through a fulltone 2 overdrive and probably an old Boss DS-1 distortion. I have the trebel up and the bass down. The Line 6 is set on a blues model sound. So I guess I am looking for exactly what you were saying.

I lied! I played a 1980s PRS way back! Wasn't sure I liked it then! I was a strat guy. So now I have a 408 thanks to you and I love it but its funny because I cant seem to get that PRS sound from it! I've tried it though my Fender Hotrod DeVille and my Line 6 Spider III. Any suggestions? This will give you an idea of what it sounds like if you want to listen....https://soundcloud.com/mark-zepp/magic-of-merlin

Hi - I have about 700 albums. Its been a while since I've been able to get to them. My elderly mom had to move into my music room. I have most of the standards. Beatles, Hendrix (including some English versions), Airplane, Dead, old English versions of FleetwoodMac with Peter Green and Jeremy Spencer, some Zappa, early Zepplin, Cream, Allman Brothers, lots of Byrds and of course Rory Gallagher. I wish I could remember more of them. I need to get them out of there. Interestingly, two of my favorite ones are very mellow albums, 6 & 12 String Guitar by Leo Kottke and an album by a guy named Paul Parrish who did a beautiful song called Jaynie. Now I have to go look through them and play a few!

I still like your blue one! That was the first time ever held a PRS and fell in love with that feel! Ellie is beautiful though and she feels great as well.....

I've been a fan of Davy's for a while now. First saw him at Experiance PRS several years ago. First met him at Baltimore Sound Stage with a group of PRS players playing a charity event! I've been lucky enough to play both of his PRS guitars. Anyway, Davy is living the dream. Love the music, love watching the process to get him where he is going. First class talent in all aspects, first class person. And besides Rory was one of my first guitar gods! So that makes Davy one of my latest guitar gods!
