On Feb. 12, 1976, about 6 of us heaped into a 1971 Ford Econoline Van and headed a 120 miles to Pittsburgh Pa. to see Foghat at the Civic Arena. When we got there, the first band had already taken the stage and we were drawn towards the music by this unknown(to us) band. This was the song and this was the lineup that dragged me in, hook line and sinker, and has kept me coming back for more...............even 40 years later !!!! Hard to believe that 3 of the 4 have passed now........................

Luther Dickinson is one of my favorite singer/sonwriter/guitarist/frontmen to see live today !!!! I also have enjoyed talking with him on a few occasions. He`s friendly, knowledgeable, and we share a lot of the same passions for music. I buy everything I can that he puts out on CD and especially Vinyl. This is a GREAT interview with him:

Startin` to buy tickets for 2017 shows>>>>>>>>> Monster Magnet still tops my list for bands that I want to see LIVE>>>>>>>>>>>> But Dave has lost faith in Americans to fully appretiate LIVE MUSIC, and mostly plays on the other side. Can`t say as I blame him, as I`m a bit sick of those that attend shows, and fully illustrate how little the music matters, compared to the partying, talking, taking selfies and just plain getting in the way of the music. Unfortunately my pocketbook doesn`t allow jet setting and my pick up truck won`t cross the pond........................... More on Dave`s mindset about playing in the U.S vs. Europe: www.blabbermouth.net/news/dave-wyndorf-why-monster-magnet-cant-get-arrested-in-the-u-s/Now that Dave`s kicked the smack and other crap, and is the strutting cock once again, I hope he finds the strength to give us in the U.S some more kick A$$ shows.

This is what was happenin` when I was 13 years old>>>>>>>>> Still missin` Carl Radle..........onehellofa Bass Player !!!! and several more from the lineup who were always part of the music that I grew up listenin` to................ that started my life long addiction to moving music played by great musicians !!!!!! HAVE A HAPPY NEW YEAR TOO ! R.K.

WE had a great Southern Soul Assembly Show last night !
I`ve been huge into Luther Dickinson and Anders Osborne, and very much love JJ Grey`s music........
BUT Marc Broussard blew me away last night with his soulful voice. I came home with his 2016 release of old soul music. It`s very good !
And now I know what he looks like behind that big red beard
I LOVED Ander`s efforts last night as he told stories about his songs and added sooooo much to the others` songs. I really enjoyed him telling about writing Boxes Pills and The Pain, and today I found yet another great version of the song:
The crowd seemed to enjoy Luther Dickinson the most but all 4 were outstanding !
I just pre-ordered the vinyl that this song is from:
Can`t Wait for it`s release in May...........
