I keep checking to see if Davy`s puttin` up any dates or tours that I can make it to.............
Nuthin` that`s workin` for me yet, but I`m optomistic.
However, my 2015 season is getting underway.
Saw my first one a couple weeks ago:
Heavy Drunk opening for Greyhounds at Pucketts Grocery in Leipers Fork Tn. on Sat. Jan. 24th
I have 3 more lined up so far:
The London Souls opening for JJ Grey & Mofro at Mr. Smalls in Millvale(Pittsburgh) Pa. on Wed. Feb. 25th
NMO(North Mississippi Allstars & Anders Osborne) at Carnegie Music Hall in Munhall(Pittsburgh) Pa. on Tues. March 3rd
Blue Oyster Cult opening for Kansas at Kovalcheck Center in Indiana Pa. on Sat. May 30th.
Nearly every day I look for more.
Gotta look for sunshine ahead when there is like 18 inches of snow on the ground with more comin` !
"Live, Love & Listen To Great Music !"
one of my mottos of life.............Rick

No big plans here so far.
If Davy should come to Germany that would certainly be a no-brainer.
There's a show in our hometown called "Journey thru the history of the Blues" featuring a blues harp player and singer and a guitarist. Both local guys but very good musicians. We've seen the same show last year and we'll be there this time again.
BTW the blues harp player is the guy I took blues harp lessons from last autumn.

I`ll tell you Rusty........
You get a lot of great American bands coming through Germany that I`d love to see.
One that I`ve been trying to catch for years, but they mostly tour over in Europe although they are from New Jersey, is Monster Magnet. They are over there right now ! I love the dark side of their heavy bass, obtuse lyric music. I`m glad Dave lived through his addictions :
Lots more coming your way>>>>>>>>>
These are coming soon to Germany:
Gov`t Mule
Tedeschi Trucks Band
JJ Grey & Mofro
Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band
I`d highly recommend all of them if possable Rusty.
p.s........after posting this.......................
I went to e-bay and bought MM`s newest vinyl Last Patrol, and am listening to the CD Monolithic Baby

Rick,
I've heard of MM before but I never listened to their music. The song you posted sounds really good.
Yes many great bands coming to Germany. Let's see if we can catch one (or some) of them.
BTW that "Journey thru the history of the Blues" show was great. Mostly older people in the audience (alas!) but everybody had a good time. There was lots of clapping an feet-stomping and singing.

Bike Week coming up, I've seen these bands listed around town. I think all these are free. Godsmack, Puddle of Mudd, Dokken, LA Guns, Jasmin Cain, Bobby Friss, Razorbacks, Pat Travers, Molly Hatchet, Warrant, but for sure on the 14th I'm going to see Preacher Stone, Skinny Molly, and my friends the Greg Billings Band. March 20-22 I will see 18 bands. I'm a volunteer for Benji's Bluesdoggle, a charity music fest I've been devoting a LOT of time and work to and more $$$ than I should be, but I'm a fan of the music. www.Bluesdoggle.com - Victor Wainwright & the Wildroots, Mike Zito, Nick Moss, Anthony Gomes, Biscuit Miller & the Mix, Brandon Santini, Jarekus Singleton, and a bunch more. After party jam sessions at Pub44 each nite, Bloody Mary brunch at Lost Lagoon restaurant on site each morning. I hope I survive 3 days.

It must be nice to live close to live music. I have to drive 45 to 130 miles(or farther) to see my live music.......... EXCEPT for 1 week a year our annual County Fair is held 1 mile from my house, where hopefully the old geezers who pick the music will find something that I also like ! It`s about a 50/50 chance. Good on you for donating your time to a good cause 51 beachbum!!! We should ALL do more of that.....for the things we believe in and support. I applaud you for your efforts. By the way......my nephew really liked Bellmont. I think that`s his top pick so far. In 2005 I got involved in a bike show locally and was saddened that others didn`t work as hard to make it an annual event as it was originally planned for. It was held at the Fairgrounds. After Evel Knievel`s death I posted comments and pictures about it here: www.legacy.com/guestbooks/sptimes/robert-craig-knievel-evel-condolences/98863158?page=3#sthash.AqPFyXtS.90vJ0IXS.dpbsWe commited to another live show yesterday...........Taj Mahal Trio in State College Pa. at the State Theater. But the tickets don`t go on sale for a couple/three weeks yet. The last time we saw him was a few years ago and we saw him and Bonnie Raitt on their opening night of their tour in Williamsport Pa. This Tuesday night it`s NMO(North Mississippi Osborne) outside Pittsburgh with my son who has just signed on as a middle school art teacher for the rest of the school year. His butt`ll be draggin` after the long ride home, and then those kid whittlin` him to the bone. I`ll be takin` the next day off.

I was a big fan of Evel. Saw him a cpl times making appearances here for bike week back in the day. He was a special man. Never really met him to speak of.
I forgot to say our Bluesdoggle fest is 100% for Childhood Cancer Foundation. My friend founded the Daytona Blues Fest 5 or 6 yrs ago. He made it a success, but a couple of people who helped him sort of manipulated things to take it over themselves for social political gain, so he just said goodbye and wished them well last year. Then he was talked into starting a new one. He got the name from my Kayak Boondoggle sticker on my truck. Its going to be tough to break even this 1st year, but hopefully we will do it again.
If any of you want to donate $20 for a raffle ticket to win a custom motorcycle, let me know. Its themed '3 Kings' as in Freddie, Albert, and BB.

YES.......I`ll send you $20 for a ticket.......we`ll move this discussion to the PM boards soon
I`ll start it off by contacting you on your PM on this board tonight, I`m headed out soon.
Childhood Cancer and Ronald McDonald Houses are on the top of my donate lists. My youngest brother got leukemia at 15 years old and was the first person ever(in the U.S. anyhow) to receive a bone marrow transplant without being in remission from cancer first. I was the donor on Christmas Eve 1982. He turns 48 next week and is still with us, although not without complications unfortunately.............
I can also relate to the situation your friend was in over the Bluesfest. Similar story with our Chrome At The Dome when people realized the money to be made AND photo oportunities.
Again .......Very good of you to donate your money and time.
Rick
p.s.....look for my PM tonight or tomorrow

You'll enjoy the Bob Margolin show 51BB. He played the Charlotte Blues Society Christmas party at the DDI a few years ago and he was awesome.

He`s played with a lot of the great ones........
Actually I guess he`s now also one of the great ones.
I`d take the walk down.
Just the idea of walking to a show would get me excited.......

Yesterday we bought tickets to see Taj Mahal again in State College Pa. at the State Theater. I have my favorite seat over there(J-2). I have seen more musicians from that same seat than I have even from another entire venue. I can stick my bum leg out in the isle and I can see over everybody because of the position of the seat. I will also be buying the same seat on Friday for The Weight: theweightband.com/about.htmI am not the type to go and see tribute bands, but this is way more than a tribute band as all players were either in one of the last incarnations of The Band or were in the Levon Helm Band or The Rick Danko Band. Their music is so true to the original flavor of The Band, that I just have to go and experience them. Also I want to meet Byron Isaacs(bass/vocals) and tell him how wonderfully he described Levon to me and the world in the Love For Levon 2CD/2DVD package released after Levon`s death. This guy was in awe of Levon and had great respect for the man while at the same time seeing the humor in his humanness, knowing that nobody is faultless. Check out how well these guys do the music of The Band:

Just bought tickets for something we`ve known about for like 9 months, but everytime I went looking to buy tickets for it, they weren`t on sale yet. Then forgot all about it. Remembered again today and went and looked and only 2 seats left, next to each other, so I snagged them and now we got another confirmed show for: John Hammond, Charlie Musselwhite and James Cotton May 2nd at the Manchester Craftsmen Guild in Pittsburgh Pa. They are touring as the Blues Hall Of Fame Living Legends Tour. We had hoped to see Charlie with Ben Harper supporting their album from a couple years ago, but they did not come near us on the short tour. prod3.agileticketing.net/websales/pages/info.aspx?evtinfo=75878~78f0c928-a599-4914-9d7c-5082dddf9ec0&Will be my first time to this venue, my son`s 2nd, and Dalton`s and my first time seeing any of the 3 musicians, that I have music by all of and listen to and have for many years now.

Whew today was a day of rest, Bike Week is done. Cool minute was at Pub 44 in New Smyrna Beach watching Puddle of Mudd, an Atlas V rocket launched from Cape Canaveral during the show. Dave 'Chili' Moreno is a bad ass drummer. The rest, well I could foresee this band splitting up in the near future. It was still a real good show, especially for free. I used to see Greg every month with STRANGER back in the 80s/early 90s. Tom is still on the bass in the Greg Billings Band. Ronnie and John have passed away. Michael Allman played earlier and was still hanging out and jumped up to join Greg singing one of my favorites 'Soulshine'. Greg invited anyone from the crowd up on stage for the last song. I declined because I was using a cane just to walk around last nite. But I got a cool photo op while they sang 'Hey Jude'. I've only seen Greg a handful of times the past 15 yrs because he is in Tampa and I don't go there enough. These reunions are special and the band is still strong.
