November 15, 2007: The Hotel Utah in San Francisco is a funky throwback to an earlier era in this great City. It sits on the cusp between the once rough and tumble waterfront and the hustle of downtown. It's worn wood exterior can be seen to the south from the approach to the Bay Bridge. The performance space in a cramped little space on a floor a few steps down from the long wooden bar. It might hold 75 people. Once I had heard "Roll On" on local radio, I knew I just had to see Back Door Slam.
I was back again on January 10, 2008, then again in October at Rickshaw Stop near the Civic Center. It was always so easy to talk to Davy before and after the show. His Obvious talent, enthusiasm for the music and friendly demeanor had me sold from the get go. I will always make a point of seeing him when he's in the area (which has been a while now, Davy).

I love that venue, and have fond memories of hiding in the van outside! There was NO room in that place. Hotel Utah is such a funky room. Love it.
Hope we make it back to San Fran again soon, it's always been such a great place to play. And please come and say hi when we do!
Cheers,
Davy

Was at all 3 of those shows Skip, as Davy may recall. The '07 gig was during cancer treatment and The Slammers were a much needed distraction from my daily routine then. The good news is I'm still here remembering those amazing shows along with Slim's & The Independent shows. Cheers Davy! Keep Rockin', Uncle J Dawg
