I just saw Davy`s video post from March 2nd on his facebook page>>>>>>> www.facebook.com/DavyKnowles/videos/10155115088325452/As usual, Davy continues to share his passion about the music and influence of Rory Gallagher attributing to his own love and success in music. Davy has a similar passion as Rory did for the music and love of his fans and of those that came before him, musically and personally. I have talked with Davy about Rory and he gets very animated and emotional about it as most of us hard core Rory fans do. I was also deeply touched with him mentioning the Irish Tour autographed LP that I gave him last year outside of Pittsburgh Pa. As I told him at the time I gave it to him.........." I can`t think of a better person to give it to, because of your love of his music and being out there playing it in such a similar fashion. Besides all my other music memorabilia will go to my son and I have several other Rory autographs on other vinyls, so how many does he need" I knew I put it in the right hands, when I gave it to him, now I`m thoroughly convinced ! Here`s the album I speak of: Attachments:

I can`t think of anyone better to front the Rory Gallagher Band than Davy, since Rory is no longer with us. Thrilled to see that Davy has teamed up with Gerry McAvoy and Ted McKenna to play some Rory music here in the U.S at some various venues. I picked up tickets for my son and I to see Davy again with the Band Of Friends in Reading Pa. this coming April. I haven`t seen Gerry McAvoy since 1976 And I`ve never seen Ted play. My son and I have been seeing Davy together for over 9 years now, and enjoy every chance we get. We were very active in getting Rory fans familiar with Davy and his love of Rory and his music and pushed for him to be a part of the Rory Tribute and album release party back in 2011 in N.Y.C. That`s where I had him sign the picture that is my avatar davyknowles.com/tour/www.facebook.com/DavyKnowles/photos/a.116324455451.121039.108466065451/10156055454855452/?type=3&theaterwww.bandoffriends.eu/

Looks like people are following my trail here.......... I hope Davy picks up some new fans from them ! Davy is a huge talent, and is a dedicated musician and can jam and do improvising with the best of them....AND HAS ! He will be touring in April with two of Rory Gallagher`s sidemen from the years of The Rory Gallagher Band here in the U.S. It will be the first time that the "Band Of Friends" has toured in the States and is because of the authentic nature of Davy`s delivery of Rory`s catalogue !!! I hope that Davy and the lads do very well here. Here`s a picture of Davy in that shirt I gave him years ago>>>>>>> Attachments:

WHAT A GREAT SHOW LAST NIGHT !!!!!!!!!! Very happy to find a room full of seats and tables at a "general admission" show ! Makes it nice for us weary old boned types. It was great to see Davy playing the "Rory" strat and tearin` it up too. As hard a player as Davy is, all in his own right, Gerry pushed him all night to create even more energy and drive to the music. They played a lot of Rory`s catalog including a bunch from the years that Ted and Gerry recorded albums with Rory. They played Keychain which Gerry told us that Rory had only done a few times live, but Davy encouraged them to do last night. So I guess it`s a song that Davy has played live more than the guys who recorded it ? I always find such knowledge interesting. They all three were in top form and drove that music hard from start to finish. We were sure happy that we went, even though we arrived home between 2 and 3 this morning exhausted and worn.

After the show, I was one of the first in line to meet the 3 and have a few things signed. Davy recognized me, right off the bat, and reached out and shook my hand saying: It`s great to see you again which made me feel good as I have been promoting and visiting with Davy for nearly 10 years now. I asked him if he had had Gerry sign Davy`s Irish Tour `74 album yet. To which he looked embarassed and he shyly said No, Not yet. I had them all sign the poster and had Ted and Gerry sign the Notes From San Francisco CD case. I thought it was an appropriate thing as Davy had played the Rory Tribute and album release party in 2011 for that album.

So now my son and I have seen Davy 5 times together, and each time was it`s own individual experience, with different players, different venues and different themes. I/we really look forward to our next time of seeing Davy. He`s working his way up the list of people that I`ve seen live the most. One day he may be my #1, as the musician that I`ve seen the most. Every time I see him, just makes me want to see him again. I`ll probably never again get the chance to see Gerry or Ted, but was thrilled to finally see Ted and to finally get to see Gerry again after only ever seeing Gerry once with Rory just over 42 years ago. My son and I sat with a guy who had seen Rory 5 times, back in the day, in the Philly area, and has seen Davy a few times before also. A number of people commented on my shirt, like the one I`m giving Davy in the avatar. I had Gerry and Ted sign these 3 Vinyl albums that they played together on, and thanked them very much for it !

I got an e-mail yesterday with a piece Davy had wrote that I thought was worth posting here:
For the last two weeks I've been living out a childhood dream of mine.
I grew up on Rory Gallagher's music, so when I got the call to join original RG band members Gerry McAvoy and Ted McKenna on tour, I jumped at it.
So. What have I learned from working with my hero's band?
You should always try and meet your heroes. They're probably just as awesome as you thought they'd be.
You need to be pushed constantly. Being in a band means egging each other on and drawing out the best performance from your colleagues. I've never been pushed like I am being on this tour. I swear my fingers were an inch longer before I started this.
The most important thing is the show. Not your guitar tone, not the drive, the soundcheck, the merchandise, or settling up at the end. Give it 110% or go home. If you're still able to stand up when it's over, you're doing it wrong.
Time limits and curfews are not important. Alright. sometimes they are... but remember the last point? Haven't finished what you wanted to say? Keep going until you've hammered it so far home that it's undeniable. 90 minute sets? Don't make me laugh...
Success is happiness with a job well done, and done with love. The most important one in this list. These guys have seen and done more than I ever will. The look of joy while they are playing is still the way I remember feeling when I started playing at 11 years old. They talk about their heroes with the same reverence I talk about them with. Our down time is spent mostly talking about music. Every moment on stage is carried out with true conviction, sincerity, and flat out old fashioned elbow grease and passion for the art. It's truly a powerful thing to be a part of.

R.ock I.n P.aradise Ted McKenna Was saddened to learn this morning that Ted had passed earlier today after complications of a surgery he had gone through. Sorry Davy for the loss of a new friend and bandmate and "hero" so to speak. Was hoping to catch the 3 of you again this year as Band Of Friends. I only met him and heard him play once, but was very much impressed with the man and the musician ! He was very friendly and happy when I met him after the show, and he signed 3 Rory Gallagher Band Vinyl records and the poster that they all 3 signed. He may be now gone, but will never be forgotten ! Attachments:
