Nice to see the young footage of Johnny and of Tommy Shannon as well......Thanks.
Never got to see Johnny perform as a younger man, but I`ve been listening to him and buying his music since the early `70s. I only got to see him LIVE a few times since 2000. Even as an aging feeble man, he could still kick ass ! He lived to become what he had always admired in others......an old bluesman who was still puttin` out the music live for his fans. He was very proud of all he had done musically and still found joy in living right up to his last day. Watch his face light up at the end of my video when they bring out his birthday cake. Paul Nelson was as big a part of giving us Johnny`s music right up to the end as was Rick Ruben with Johnny Cash`s music. I hope Paul keeps the band together and fronts it himself now...........
Johnny will always be an important part of music for me.
Check out his last recording he did with friends.....Step Back
It is very good.
Here`s one from it:

I just started my new month of music listening, and one of my new vinyls that I played this morning is: Johnny Winter/Roots/2011 WOW is it something special ! I got mine on vinyl, but I`d consider it a must have item in any format for someone who appretiates his music. It has lots of special guest on it too. Here`s some info: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roots_(Johnny_Winter_album)There are some songs on youtbe for sampling............. BUT I`d just go and buy it !
